The Sibelius exhibition
Guided tour in the Sibelius exhibition takes the visitor on a journey in Finnish musical life combined with the life story of Finland’s national composer Jean Sibelius (1865-1957).
It also shows what kind of a musical city Turku was at that time, which of Sibelius’ friends lived in Turku, and why the only actual museum of the composer is in Turku.
The tour takes app. 60 minutes.
Conducting Finland 1917-2017
The special exhibition “Conducting Finland” – conductors as musical messengers 1917-2017 focuses on orchestral conductors who together with their orchestras have conveyed Finnish music to listeners in Finland as well as abroad. Through their work the conductors have made Finland and Finnish music known around the world. The exhibition presents Finnish conductors from Robert Kajanus to the new names of today. Apart from images and sound material the exhibition also contains personal items. In connection with the exhibition it is possible to practice conducting. The tour takes app. 45 minutes.
